Modern Web GUI

Modern web pages increase user satisfaction and reduce training costs as they look better, are easier to access, use mouse-driven navigation, and include intuitive input fields like dropdown lists.
Instant Modern UI
Modern Navigation
Easy Deployment and Access
Quick Onboarding
Convert your green screen programs to a modern web application instantly. Presto’s algorithms auto-detect elements like menu screens, subfiles & function keys and transform them into web elements on the fly.

Presto is truly non-invasive in that you can continue running your existing programs unchanged with the 5250 datastream. All your proven code is left untouched, reducing the risk and time needed to modernize.
Improve screen navigation by enabling mouse-driven functionalities such as clickable buttons, links, and dropdown lists.

Add other traditional web-based navigation, like tabs, to organize information and give the appearance of multiple pages on the same page.
Your IT staff saves time because users only need a browser to access the web-enabled green screens internally or remotely from PCs, Macs, or mobile devices.

As soon as you complete Presto's server-side installation (which typically takes about ten minutes), all your legacy green screens (RPG and COBOL programs, menus, third-party and system screens) are accessible as web pages.
Your applications will have a modern look but familiar interface, making it easier to train new users.

Global Settings

Accelerate the modernization of your IBM i applications by applying the same settings to all your web-enabled green screens.
They allow you to control the look and functionality of your web-enabled screens. Use these settings to define the look and positioning of function keys, menu screens’ appearance, the way subfile screens are displayed, and more.
Use one of the global rules that are shipped with Presto or create your own to transform elements on screens. A common usage of this function is to remove a green screen’ text string from web-enabled screens to give them a modern, less cluttered look.
Use the built-in skin editor to create your own custom skins to match your brand.

The skin editor allows you to define the colour scheme and incorporate your company's logo without any coding.
Presto supports multiple environments, which is usually a critical feature in enterprise solutions. You gain the ability to simultaneously have independent versions of the same web-enabled green screen applications. If you are an Independent Software Vendor (ISV), you can use this feature to customize the look of the same application for each client.

Visual Editor and Customization

Improve the look and functionality of screens without web development experience using Presto's Visual Editor.
The Visual Editor's palette can be used to drag and drop consistently styled UI elements like headers, containers, tabs, images, charts, buttons, and icons to your web-enabled green screens.

You can also arrange elements faster and with more uniformity - move elements individually or as a group and snap them to the closest element you are moving them to.
Transform input fields to datepickers, checkboxes, radio buttons, or dropdown lists for a better UI and to speed up data entry. Easily add links to PDFs, Word documents, and other files directly from within the Visual Editor. You can also add Google Maps to your screens without HTML code.
Add JavaScript events to elements within the Visual Editor to hide/display elements when clicked, trigger autocomplete on an input, populate the command line with a button click, and more.
You can edit the HTML and JavaScript for any screen directly in the Presto Designer. This gives you full control over the UI and allows you to plug in code snippets and plugins you find on the internet.

Productivity Tools

Presto is packed with various productivity tools and features that your IT staff and end-users will appreciate.
With Presto's spool-file-to-PDF feature, you can access a list of IBM i spool files from any screen you're on within Presto and view them in PDF format. You can then download, email, or print them on any printer connected to your PC.
This feature improves workflow processes, allowing users to directly access their desired screens without navigating through multiple menu options. Since these macros work on the server side, they are more secure and perform better than traditional client-side macros.
Presto Insights helps you prioritize modernization needs by visually displaying how users spend time in applications.
Presto’s IDE provides tools to manage and reuse your customizations (using the attach/detach feature). Use the Change Management option to export/import customization and add them to your source control management solution.

Mobile Support

Access your business applications from iPads, iPhones, or other mobile devices.
Presto’s skin provides a responsive layout that looks great on any screen size and device, desktop or mobile. This feature adjusts the layout and styling of certain elements on the screen (such as subfile tables) to match the available screen size.
You can apply a separate set of customizations to your web-enabled screens on mobile devices. You can also test your mobile customizations from within Presto’s Editor using the Display Mode.
Presto includes a custom virtual keyboard for function keys which are an integral part of almost every green screen application. This comes in handy on mobile devices, including iPhones and iPads, that don't have function keys on their keyboards..
Presto screens use standard web technologies – the screens can be accessed on mobile browsers. You do not need to deploy your solution on an app store and the changes you make are immediately visible to mobile users.

SQL Capabilities

Use SQL to extend your web-enabled screens beyond the 5250 datastream.
Presto allows you to manage SQL statements that you can define, save, and reuse for populating elements like dropdown lists and charts with Db2 data. You can use SQL queries in both the Visual Editor and HTML.

These queries are flexible - you have the option to use values from a screen (e.g.: usernames) and library lists to dynamically display data. If no library is specified in the query, it will draw data from users' library list.
You can easily display database-driven data on your web-enabled screens by dragging and dropping a SmartChart from the Visual Editor's palette and then using a SQL query to populate the chart data.
You can add dropdown lists and autocompletes to your input fields to speed up data entry. A dropdown list can be populated with values from Db2 by an SQL query. Autocomplete uses SQL queries to predict the value the user is typing, allowing them to choose a value without having to type it in completely.
The Export Data element makes it possible for you to provide users Db2 data as CSV spreadsheets or HTML pages.
Users can open the spreadsheets in Microsoft Excel, without having to copy and paste data. The spreadsheet or HTML page is populated with the results of a SQL query you define in Presto.

Integration and Security

Presto gives you the flexibility to integrate other web apps and technologies with your system.
Communicate and launch web applications like WebSmart programs from within your web-enabled green screens. You can also seamlessly integrate your web-enabled screens with web services (such as credit card approval, shipment tracking, Google Maps, and more).
Presto’s REST API allows you to expose 5250 screens as a web service. This feature allows you to navigate, retrieve, and share data from your 5250 screens with other systems.
Presto supports Kerberos for an SSO on multiple applications.

You can also apply 2FA on your web-enabled screens by integrating Presto with Fresche’s Nexus portal. Nexus includes a web menu system and an SSO for your Presto apps that you can use to hide traditional 5250 navigation.
Presto runs as a web application, so many of the same security considerations that apply to conventional web applications apply to Presto-enabled applications as well. You can configure access to your web-enabled screens in multiple ways (including SSL, firewalls, proxy servers, and VPN servers).
